Moto Guzzi V1000 G5

This V1000 was previously fitted with a California 1100 front fork and swingarm. As the bike is being rebuilt in a period-correct manner, the original fork and swingarm have been reinstalled.

This project is all about simplicity, nothing should stand out or draw attention. Many components are concealed or treated in such a way that they blend seamlessly into the overall design.

How it started, just a big touring bike.

I like to start with a clean base, completely disassembled and gritblasted, ready for mock up.

After welding, the frame is checked again for straightness.

Holes will be welded for a clean look.

The result, holes welded and handlebar clamps reversed, they are now bolted on from the underside.

I made a gear for the internal throttle, 1 into 2 cables and with 3:2 ratio.

Motogadget gauge frenched in the headlight housing.

Bracket made for the rear brake caliper to be mounted behind the exhaust silencer, again for a clean look.

Brakes master and fuse box mounted under the tank.

Mock up tank and seat out of foam. This way I can check the design and make changes easily.

All Motogadget electrics for reliability.
